Heather has been telling stories as long as she can remember. Her tumultuous affair with theatre began at six when she danced as a fairy in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. She left her small town in the Sierra Nevada mountains to pursue acting, by way of attending Occidental College in Los Angeles. By the time Heather graduated, she had discovered her natural talent as a director.

A Richter Fellowship brought Heather to Italy where she documented the lost trade of Commedia Dell ‘Arte mask making photographically. When Heather returned, she stage managed and found a new source of inspiration with a company called singular productions. It was there that she produced a popular reading series, discovering emerging playwrights. Heather debuted directorially at the Ivy Substation with Phyllis Nagy’s controversial adaptation of “The Scarlet Letter”.

Heather fused her love for photography and theatre to earn her Master’s degree in film at USC. She garnered a Director’s Guild Award & student Emmy for her short film “A Cinnamon Roll Story”. After graduation, Heather worked for Academy Award winning documentary editor Kate Amend, and as an writer’s assistant for television Sci Fi wizard Ronald D. Moore. Heather took a “break” when she became mom to Enzo in 2004. Currently, Heather Ragsdale is managed by Kaila York of Headlong Entertainment, and has a screenplay in development.
